Katie Louise DarwoodThe charity, Katie's Concerts, has been set up in memory of Katie Louise Darwood, who died in June 2002 following a brave four year battle with cancer.

The initial idea to raise money for Katie's charities, by staging a concert, came from an idea Thomas (Katie's brother) had to donate the profits from his band's next gig to the nominated charities. The idea then took off and so many people came forward to offer their musical talents, it seemed the idea had so much more potential than just a single concert.

As a result the first Katie's Concert was organised with the help of over 25 of Katie's friends who put on a concert at Baysgarth School. The concert was a huge success and has blossomed into Katie's Concerts the charity. We are now busy fund raising and arranging further concerts in order to fulfil the aims of our charity. The two national beneficiaries of the fundraising efforts are Cancer Research UK and the Blue Cross Animal Hospital, both charities that Katie supported at every opportunity.

Anyone wishing to hold a concert, gig or recital in Katie's name can contact us, Jane & Graham Darwood, through this web site or on 01652 632196 as we would be more than willing to help in organising such an event.
